I’ve been in São Paulo last year and one of the best moments I had there was a visitation to MASP (São Paulo’s Art Museum). I recall there were many interesting exhibitions there, but one of them had really called my attention. A photographic exhibition called: Pirelli’s Collection/MASP of photography – 17 a. edition.
In the middle of so many photos, one of them caught my attention: A photo showing a flock of butterflies, an amazing view! I remember that I’ve spent over than thirty minutes staring at that photo. It was an explosion of color, life and movements. I’ll never forget the feelings that came up to me in that half an hour.
These things make me think about life. I see us as human race searching for big things, for great conquers, and nevertheless life seems to be tasteless, sometimes … Why? Because the greatest delights of life are in simple things.
Sometimes I just put a quilt on the floor, put some cushions on it and spread some books around me. I may be either watching a film or just talking with God… Sometimes I may be reading a book while I’m listening to some classic music, taking some grape juice (my favorite one) and I just stand there, just feeling the pleasure of doing something that makes me really good!
And when I have a free time I go downtown, not necessarily for buying, but just to take a walk, to feel the life happening around me. I can see street vendors advertising their products, I can see buskers performing, pure life that enchants me!
And what about you? What are the little delights that you have? Find and save some time for this, because they really have the Power of changing your common days into the most special ones!
